Tracy Barrett’s Estate-Plan Gift to Support Future Suffolk Students

Tracy Barrett, JD, ’94“Suffolk University is near and dear to my heart,” says Tracy Barrett, JD, ’94, Director of Technology Procurement and Sourcing at Veritas Technologies, LLC, in Santa Clara, California.

Tracy has always appreciated the practical, educational approach she experienced at Suffolk. The benefits were tangible and dramatic. “My excellent education at Suffolk Law enabled me to pass three bar exams, including a challenging one in California, and also prepared me well for my career as a lawyer and businessperson.”

She still refers to her contracts class at Suffolk Law when she handles technology contract negotiations. Her gratitude to the university endures. “Suffolk cares deeply about students as well as alumni like me. They do a great job in keeping us connected with the school.” This is why Tracy is so strongly committed to giving back to Suffolk.

Since 2006, she has donated $1,000 or more to the Law School each year—entitling her to join the Summa Society, which honors Suffolk’s philanthropic leaders. Tracy has also included Suffolk Law School in her estate plan through a retirement-plan beneficiary designation. This has led to her membership in the Frost Society, which recognizes alumni and other Suffolk friends who establish legacy gifts.

Although she is relatively young, Tracy believes in the value of planning ahead to fulfill her charitable goals. In the future, she expects to augment her estate-plan gift and increase her annual giving to Suffolk. Her ultimate goal is to establish a scholarship fund.
